there's no place like om brings together a collection of furniture and domestic objects created from reclaimed wood and shaped by Christopher Martin's evolving practice of meditation.
The exhibition begins with a familiar idea: home as a place of comfort, rest, and belonging. But Martin's work asks us to consider another possibility that home can also be an internal space, something cultivated through attention and ritual.
Rather than treating furniture solely as functional design, Martin approaches each piece as an opportunity to shape an experience. The objects ask how our surroundings affect the ways we move, rest, listen, and pay attention to our external and internal abode.
The title there's no place like om plays with the familiar longing for home while replacing "home" with the meditative sound of om. The pun points toward the central question of the exhibition:
What does it mean to make a home for stillness?
there's no place like om invites visitors to spend time with that question. To sit. To listen. To look closely. To consider the possibility that the objects surrounding us can become more than possessions — they can become participants in the rituals through which we make a life.
